徐渭是明代后期著名的文学家和艺术家,自谓吾书第一。其草书不受成法束缚,出于真情至性,可谓其悲愤人生的真实写照。通过与前贤张旭、怀素、黄庭坚、祝允明草书相比,可以看出：诸前贤草书之＂狂＂是有限度的、有条件的,虽狂放无边但法度谨严。徐渭狂草则感性居上,无视传统用笔法度,更加强化了艺术家的主观性,把草书艺术向前推进了一步。
서위시명대후기저명적문학가화예술가,자위오서제일。기초서불수성법속박,출우진정지성,가위기비분인생적진실사조。통과여전현장욱、부소、황정견、축윤명초서상비,가이간출：제전현초서지＂광＂시유한도적、유조건적,수광방무변단법도근엄。서위광초칙감성거상,무시전통용필법도,경가강화료예술가적주관성,파초서예술향전추진료일보。
Xu Wei is the renowned writer and the artist in the Ming Dynasty later period.In the prose,the drama,calligraphy and painting art he has the very high achievement.He is multi-talented person who obtains the outstanding achievement in the Chinese literary arts history.He thought that his calligraphy has surpassed his other aspects.His calligraphy had his art achievement all moral characters truly,his grass script stem from true feelings.It may be said that his calligraphy is his life real reflection.Compare with past worthies Zhang Xu,Huaisu,Huang Tingjian,Zhu Yunming compare,his wild goes beyond.
