将野生稻、中籼稻与云贵高原粳稻的后代选系进行杂交, 选育出常规籼型稻新品种黔恢15。经多年试验，该品种表现出高产、抗寒、加工品质优、食味优良和适应性广的特性，于2000年8月经贵州省农作物品种委员会审定合格，是贵州省可与杂交稻同时搭配种植的一个常规籼型稻新品种，也是边远地区降低种子成本、并可防灾救灾的品种。
