Potted seedlings of Chrysanthemum sp. , Phlox paniculata, Aster novi-belgii and Hemerocallis middendorffii were treated with 0.2% NaCl solution for the first time on July 31st, 2006. In the following two weeks, irrigated the potted seedlings with 0.2% NaCl solution once a week, and then investigated the salt tolerance of the potted seedlings and calculated the salt inju-ry index. The contents of proline, SOD, POD, MDA in the leaves of the potted seedlings were determined on August 7th, August 15th, August 23rd, respectively. A comprehensive evaluation on salt tolerance was made according to the ranking princi-ple of giving top priority to high frequency. Result shows that under salt stress, salt tolerances of four herbaceous perennial flow-ers exhibit Aster novi-belgii, Chrysanthemum sp. , Hemerocallis middendorffii, and Phlox paniculata from high to low.
