果园传统的清耕管理方式劳动强度大,土壤保水、保肥能力低,肥料投入成本高,而且造成冬春季节土壤裸露,易发生风沙扬尘.果园自然生草覆盖技术能够增加土壤有机质含量,改善土壤理化性质;减少土壤水分蒸发,提高果园蓄水保墒及抗旱能力;有利于天敌繁育,减少农药用量;提高大桃品质;省工、省力,降低成本,提高效益;具有良好的景观效应,减少环境污染,抑制大气扬尘.通过对北京平谷区桃园自然生草覆盖技术的调查,结果表明:果园自然生草覆盖后能够增加土壤有机质含量,增加幅度为10.4%~38.1%;能够提高大桃产量与品质,单果质量提高2.8%~5.4%,可溶性固形物增加0.65%~1.35%.

Conventional tillage management in orchard features the labor-intensive, fertilizer costing, bare ground in winter and dust in spring. The technology of natural grass cover could increase soil organic matter content, reduce evaporation, increase drought resistance, improve peach quality, save labor and reduce environmental pollution. The survey results in Pinggu shown that the soil organic matter content was increased by 10.4% to 38.1%, the single weight of peach was increased by 2.8% to 5.4% and the soluble solids in peach was increased by 0.65% to 1.35%.
