In the paper, the characteristics, formation mechanism and synthetic method of insoluble sulfur were introduced. A detailed discussion on selection of process conditions during production processes such as quenching, solidifying, extracting, oil-treating and so on was made. Finally it indicated that high content (high transformation rote), high thermal stability, high dispersibility, low static, explosion-proof, anti-corrosion, energy saving and environmental protection would be the future developing tendency of insoluble sulfur.
