通过花粉管通道技术将慈姑蛋白酶抑制剂API(Arrowhead Proteinase Inhibitor）基因转入棉花，获得了转基因植株。经对棉铃虫抗虫性鉴定和PCR、RT-PCR、Southern blotting分析，证明获得了表达API基因的抗虫棉。

The gene　for　arrowhead　proteinase　inhibitor（API）　was　transferred　into　cotton　plants　by　the　pollen-tube　pathway　method，and　transgenic　cotton　plant　was　resulted．After　tests　of　resistance　to　pest　insects　and　analyses　of　PCR，RT-PCR　and　Southern　blotting，the　transgenic　plants　were　proved　to　have　expressed　the　API　gene　and　to　be　resistant　to　cotton　bollworm．This　is　the　first　report　so　far　concerning　the　pest-resistant　transgenic　cotton　with　the　API　gene．
