Objective: To observe the effect of Tangweikang Capsule (糖微康, T WK) on diabetic nephro pathy (DN). Methods: The 119 DN patients were divide d into two groups: the group of TWK treatment (n=78) and group of captopril (n=41) as the control, the d ose of which was 50 mg/d. The treatment lasted for 12 weeks. The changes of symp t om score, urinary microprotein series, blood glucose, renal function, etc. were observed. Results: The total effective rate of the T WK group was 84.62%; and tha t of the control group was 70.73%, there was significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05). TWK treatment reduced the levels of blood glucose, blood lipid, serum creatinine, blood urea nitrogen, albumin, β 2-micr oglobulin and Tamm-Horsfall protein (P<0.05, P<0.01) in DN patients. Th e levels of triglyceride, angiotensin Ⅰ, angiotensin Ⅱ, atrial natriuretic po lypeptide, prostag landins, endothelin, type Ⅳ collagen and to tal cholesterol decreased and the level of high density lipoprotein-cholestero l increased in the serum of TWK-treated DN patients (P<0.05, P<0.01). Conclusion: TWK exerted obviously ameliorating effect on renal f unction in DN patients.
