Biological nitrogen fixation which was very significant to environment , food and population was a global strategic question , and the symbiotic nitrogen fixation of Rhizobium - legume was the focus in this field. Through generally viewing domestic and overseas researches on the methods of the Rhizobium breeding , the paper explained their advantages and disadvantages respectively and pointed out that long breeding period and ineffective screening methods were two major limiting factors affecting the research work, then described the prospect of the research on Rhizobium breeding.
