Through the mechanism analysis of seismic disasters of M5.9 Shidian earthquake, it is clearly found that the vertical earthquake function has played an important role in the damages, which is identical with the vertical value of the peak acceleration of strong ground motion. It proves the damaging causes that the vertical earthquake force has played, for which the seismologists have discovered its important role in the magistoseismic area.
