The significance and necessity of drawing up the standards of static tension test and Charpy notch impact test at low temperature special for cast iron materials was described. Through analyzing and comparing the content of the latest editions of related national and international test standards for general metallic materials, as well as considering the speciality of cast iron materials, the subject of how to improve the suitability and application of the new standard was approached, and also some thinking and ideas to write the standard were provided.
