An interesting phenomenon is that when people are referring to themselves,they do not always and necessarily use "I".Other expressions can be used.The essay tries to explore the different linguistic strategies used to refer to the "self" or "the speaker's role",and their effects.Also,the printiples behind the Strategies are discussed,namely social diStahoe principle and aim principle.
