The vacuum heat treatment process and its advantages and disadvantages were described. It was considered that tool property parameters such as tool shape, size and materials mainly affect the charging mode of vacuum heat treatment and its heating velocity, heating temperature, insulation time, determination of vacuum degree and regulation of controllable air pressure, optimization of cooling mode and medium. Meanwhile, the tool process route of vacuum heat treatment in detail and the related problems of each process were discussed also. It makes vacuum heat treatment guarantee tool surface quality and low deformation and simultaneously perfect various tool performances.
