An SIS epidemic model with varying total population size is studied. Using new analytic technique based on the concept of comparison,some suffcient conditions are obtained to guarantee the local or global exponential stability of the disease free equilibrium and the endemic equilibrium.Furthermore ,the estimate of the exponential convergence rate of the equilibrium and the estimate of the region of exponential convergence of the equilibrium are derived.
