The article pointed out the old waterborne epoxy system is not applied in the steel anticorrosion, because of the poor film forming and water resistance. The main reasons for these problems is that the emulsifying efficiency of the emulsifier is not high and separated out easily. Now, through the use of newly synthesized emulsifiers to improve these shortcomings, and compared the new system and solvent based coatings. Corrosion resistance of the new system was found close to that of solvent based coatings. Finally, the development of waterborne epoxy anticorrosion coatings was prospected.
