After going through recent studies on Chinese dish name transhtion,the writer analyzes Chinese culinary culture,and on the basis of that,puts forward three translation principles,including better understanding of the original dish names,transmittance of aesthetic value and convey of cultural elements.By evaluating the English renderings of Chinese dish names,the author summarizes several translating techniques such as literal translation with explanation,free translation,and provides some humble opinions in hopes of improving the quality of Chinese dish name translation.
