Calcium polyphosphate(CPP) has excellent biocompatibility, bioactivity, good bone conduction and biodegradability,and its calcium and phosphorus ratio is 0. 5, so CPP is a new ceramic inorganic polymer matrix bio-logical material with polymerizing repeated units, which has similar chemical composition with bone tissue. In addi-tion, the calcium and phosphate ions released from the degradation of CPP will participate calcium and phosphorus me-tabolism in the body, be re-deposited into bone tissue, accelerate the mineralization of bone tissue and promote the for-mation of new bone. Thereby CPP as a new type of biological material substituted for bone tissue has become a re-search hotspot. This paper clearly introduced the preparation, mechanical and biological properties of CPP and its composite materials. With further research and development, CPP will be given a wider application.
