Fu 296, a new early indica variety, was developed by Institute of Crop Science and Nuclear Technology Utilization, Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and it certificated by Hunan Provincial Crop Variety Release Committee in Marich, 2008. It has the characteristics of high yield, fine rice quality, greater agronomic characters, superior growth ability, higher plant height, stiff and sturdy stems, larger panicles, higher seed setting rate, stronger resistance to lodging and fertility endurance, etc..
