From May,1980 to June,1981,we used the Harrington instrumentation in ten cases of severe scoliosis in children.In two cases,the operation was performed under endotra cheal plus intravenous anesthesia,and in the rest,the operation was done under epidural block in addition to endotracheal anesthesia.The blood loss ranged from 400 to 1,200 milliliters,the average being 820 mls.
