The theoretical mechanism of the negative friction of pile is introduced firstly. Those methods of diminishing the negative friction of pile are summarized. The tapered pile is used to reduce the negative friction of pile and its mechanism is illustrated. Finally, a suggestion of using intensive tapered pile groups is put forward to diminish the negative friction of pile in under-consolidated soft subsoil.
