Calixarenes are capvity-shipped cyclic molecules made up of phenol units linked by methylene groups.Calixarenes posses great potentials in the molecular recognition,which are to be counted as the third generation of supramolecules after cyclodextrins and crown ethers.They are widely used in modern separation science like chromatography and capillary electrophoresis.Their applications in chromatography and capillary electrophoresis are reviewed with 54 references,while some problems and strategies are pointed out.
