On the principle of energy method, new procedures are proposedfor approximate calculation of the fundamental frequency of continuous beams and three important lower mode shapes and frequencies of 3-D complicated piping systems. A real-life piping system and other examples are calculated using the proposed method, and the results are compared with the exact solutions from the dynamic analyses.
