The mechanics of fiber forming tension affecting the shape of direct roving package is expounded. The rules of the tension's affection on the saddle shape, height and outer diameter of direct roving package have been validated by tests. Under the same conditions, the greater the fiber forming tension, the more seriously the roving package is saddle shaped. With the increase of the tension, the diameter of the roving package decreases gradually and the height increases slightly.
