There had not yet been reported that rice plant disease was caused by rice black streaked dwarf virus in Hubei. But in 2009, a rice dwarf disease, similar to rice black streaked dwarf disease, caused rice yield great loss in some counties of Jingzhou city. By symptoms observed, 10% SDS-PAGE and RT-PCR detection, the pathogen of rice dwarf disease was identified as rice black streaked dwarf virus.
