The characteristics of sludge thermal hydrolysis pre-treatment technology in accelerating cell lysis and reducing sludge viscosity are introduced with emphasis on the composition, principle and advantages of Biothelys~(R) system. The technological advantages of Biothelys~(R) system in sludge reduction, equipment volume reduction and energy recovery are analyzed with engineering examples.
