This paper stated the design objectives of the computerized instrumentation and control system including the main control room, which could be and should be achieved in CNP1000, based on the national 1E computer production technology including software and hardware, and current instrumentation and control design technique of nuclear power plant. The affecting factors on the design objectives and the reasons or necessity to do the design research projects have been described. The objectives of design research on the computerized instrumentation and control, and the compact main control room, as well as the self-design proficiency after the design research have been completed are given.
