Functionally gradient material (FGM) is one of the new materials,because its composition shows a continuous change along thickness orientation.Consequently,its performance shows a continuous change too.Fabrication methods and performance evaluation of mechanical properties,thermal shock,compression and heat treatment for FGM are discussed in detail.At last,the new developing directions of FGM are analyzed.
