石美玉(1873-1954),英文名Mary Stone,中国最早留学美国的女医生之一,被誉为中国现代医学界的先驱、医学教育家.1896年,她学成归国先后在九江、上海等地开办医院及护士学校,毕生致力于医学和护理教育事业.本文参考有关文献,介绍了石美玉的生平,并就石美玉的医学教育思想进行了探析,将其归纳为:医护并重的大医观；面向农村的服务观；知行统一的教育观；注重社区的卫生观；开拓创新的发展观；独立自主的开放观.今天,学习石美玉的医学教育思想,就要坚持医护并重,知行统一；面向农村,注重社区；能力导向,改革创新；独立自主,洋为中用.

SHI Mei-yu,whose English name is Mary Stone,one of the earliest woman doctors who studied in the United States of America,is known as a pioneer of modern medical ministry of China and a medical educator.She returned to China in 1896 and launched hospitals and nursing schools in cities such as Jiujiang and Shanghai,devoting her life to the cause of medical and nursing education.Based on relative reference,this paper introduces the life of Mary Stone and explores her thinking of medical education,which can be concluded as follows:the large medical view of emphasizing nursing,a view of service facing the rural area,a view of education uniting knowledge and practice,a view of health emphasizing the community,then view of development based on reform and innovation,and a view of opening up on the basis of independence.This paper proposes that to learn Mary Stone's medical education thought at present is to insist on the emphasizing nursing as medicine,uniting the knowledge and practice,facing the rural area,the capability orientation,reform and innovation,independence,and making foreign things serve China.
