The commonly used methods for inventory control were introduced. Using inventory optimization principle, the inventory status of particular packaging lubricating oil in a oil depot for a certain period were studied and analyzed. The inventory of packaging lubricating oil was optimized with remarkable effect. It was pointed out that inventory optimization principle was also applicable to the non-oil business.
