A well preserved microfossil group of possible Protozoa is discovered from Late Neoproterozoic Doushantuo phosphorites in Wengan-Fuquan area, Guizhou with a new genus Luxapertus gen. Nov.described. Phosphatized micrinites and protoplasm(?) distributed as irregular stripes in chamber. Aperture tubelike with internal siphon or papillar, at one side of the anterior of test. The tubelike aperture developed a filiform pseudopodia, with a group remains of protoplasm(?) at the front of the and the rear of test. The characteristics of the new genus suggest closest affinities with Foraminifera. On the basis of morphological characters and aperture features of these specimens, three new species are described Luxapertus wenganensis, Luxapertus sphaeroidolis and Luxapertus papillaformis for the representatives of possible early stage Protozoa on Earth. The discovery is not only enriching content of Wengan Biota but also providing evidence for possible Protozoa in it . As a general rule, Foraminifera appears in Cambrian, the discovery of a suspicious Foraminifera from Wengan Biota suggests an earlier origin.
