    This paper expounds an engineering attempt in using the short grouting pile with garbage-rammed bottom and enlarged end (or for short, rammed -enlarged short pile) to the newly piled up soft soil site in Handan City, anal yzes the mechanism of the reinforcement of foundation and, in combination with s ome engineering examples, elucidates the applicability of rammed-enlarge short piles to Handan and the prospects of their popularization and appilication
