笔者主要从角色对比的角度来进行分析,介绍了乔伊斯的<尤利西斯>是如何颠覆史诗<奥德赛>的.<尤利西斯>不仅仅是简单地颠覆了史诗<奥德赛>,甚至颠覆了史诗的概念.通过对史诗<奥德赛>的颠覆,<尤利西斯>表达了都柏林人麻木而窒息的生活,生活毫无活力,缺乏冒险精神,人的精神被严重束缚起来,这再也不是英雄的时代.通过对史诗这一概念的颠覆,<尤利西斯>为英雄时代画上了句号,也为史诗时代画上了句号.

This paper focuses on the analysis of how Ulysses has subverted the epic of The Odyssey, especially its correspondent lofty heroes from the perspective of character analysis, and finally, how Ulysses has subverted the concept of epic. Through the comparison between the heroes in both epics, we can detect how Joyce expresses his view that his country lacks intellectual and political heroism, adventurousness, as well as the ability to overcome those various barriers. By subverting the essence of epic, Ulysses has drawn a curtain of the times of heroism, as well as the times of epic.
