Chengde City is famous for the Chengde Summer Resort,Chengde Eight Outer Temples,and oth er place of interest. Therefore, the landscape design of modern residential districts in Chengde should be inherited the traditional culture and try to shape the exclusive landscape of Chengde modern residential areas. In this paper,the practical problems in the landscape design of Chengde reidential areas are analysed, the directive significance of inheriting the traditional culture in the landscape design is described, and the corresponding methods for the landscape design are proposed.
