选育7500～9000kg/hm2的优质高产品种和选育9750kg/hm2的超高产品种是河南省小麦育种的发展方向，在品种类型上优质高产品种可以目前的高产品种类型为主，超高产品种则以大穗类型为主，并着重对河南省优质高产育种和超高产育种的主要攻关点进行了探讨。
