目前,无法根治HIV-1感染的主要障碍在于病毒可以在被它感染的某些细胞亚群中保持潜伏状态,即使成功应用HAART,潜伏的感染细胞也能够通过逃避病毒引起的免疫应答而存活很长时间.如果加以适当刺激,潜伏的细胞能够重新活化,产生具有感染性的病毒体.此文对HIV-1潜伏的机制和储存库研究进展进行了综述.

Current antiretroviral therapy can suppresses HIV effectively, but can't eradicate the virus. A major barrier in HIV-1 eradication is the virus could remain latent in a subpopulation of the infected cells. Given the appropriate stimulus, latently infected cells can reactivate and start producing infectious virions. Understanding the mechanisms of HTV latency will help efforts to eradicate the infection. Viral reservoirs and the mechanisms behind viral latency are reviewed in the article.
