Worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX) has characteristics of large capacity, long transmission distance, high reliability, and high utilization rate of spectrum. It is used in emergency of WiMAX communication system. WiMAX, its topology and networking are presented and advantages are analyzed. Based on characteristics of emergency communication, the application of WiMAX as a way of wireless access in emergency communication is discussed. Finally, a design of WiMAX emergency communication system for emergency communication vehicles is given.
