A new instrument was developed for measuring viscosity coefficient based on Stokes measurement principle. A laser photoe lectric device was used for keeping time. By using the instrument, the accuracy of measuring time was improved and the single-chip computer saved the measurement results automatically. Those saved data would not be lost when the instrument is powered eft. A device for dropping the ball along the plumb axis and a guide arrangement were designed. It realized that only one ball with certain diame ter was needed for repeated measurement and the ball pile was avoided.
