A finite difference method isproposed for modeling wave motion and fracture phenomenonin hydro-elasto-plastic bodies. The method is aGodunov type approach, and it has second-order accuracyand captures shocks and fracture zones with high resolution.In the class of given wave systems the Riemann problemsinvolved in the method have unique solutions,and the solutions can be obtained with efficientprocedures. Numerical results are satisfactory incomputations of Riemann problems and spallationin a steel plate.
