The optical technology used in detection of incipient caries lession was described,including QLF(Quantitative light-induced fluorescence), Diagnodent, DIFOTI (Digital Imaging fiber-optic trans-illumination), PS-OCT (Polarization sensitive optical coherence tomography)and PRS (Polarization raman spectroscopy).The basic principles, experimental scheme and research situation of optical methods were introduced in detail. And we alse compared the different optical methods. Finally, the early detection method of dental caries based on the frequency-domain fluorescence lifetime imaging was presented and the technical route of the scheme was also introduced.
