Based on a system of macro & micro fracture appearance observation, energy spectrum analysis, metallurgical structure inspection and the fracture mechanism, the fracture cause of the compressor piston rod was obtained. The results showed that the piston rod was overload fracture. After the piston fractured, driving force made the piston rod press the cylinder components or the broken the piston, and led to the piston rod deformation and fracture.
