The influence of the CVD coating arts and coated carbon species as well as their physical properties (structure, weight percent, distribution and specific surface area) on the electrochemical performances of the electrode materials (the first charge/discharge capacity, the first coulombie efficiency, cyclability and rate properties) are summarized, questions needed further studies are raised and the developing trend of modification is prospected.
