细菌特别是厌氧菌和兼性厌氧菌具有在实体瘤中优先生长繁殖的特性,在抗肿瘤应用方面已经受到很多人的关注.通过研究人们已经发现了它们的许多抗肿瘤机理,证明某些细菌确实具有一定的抗肿瘤应用价值.同时人们也在不断寻找着适合的菌株,并通过生物技术手段进行改造,以求研究出新的抗肿瘤利器.

Much attention has been paid to the application of bacteria as anti-tumor agents, especially of the obligate anaerobes and facultative anaerobes, which have the characteristics of preferential growth and propagation in the solid tumor compared with the healthy tissue. Studies have demonstrated that some mechanisms of bacteria anti-tumor effect have been found,and that, certain bacteria do have value in tumor therapy. However, further investigations are needed to obtain appropriate natural or bio-engineering bacteria strains for anti-tumor purpose.
