A basic concept of multiple continuous queries was introduced with information about the major characteristics of data streams: continuously arrival, unbounded size and real-time. According to the characteristics of multiple continuous queries, the technique of multiple continuous query optimization over data stream was divided into single-stream multiple query and multiple-stream multiple query. And this classification was designed to meet different users' requirements. Moreover, the authors comprehensively discussed the technology of single-stream query optimization based on falter and shared multiple-stream query optimization. After analyzing all of the optimization algorithms systematically, the advantages and disadvantages as well as the suitable occasions of each technology were given.
