A series of 3,3-dimethyl-2-(3-methylazulenevinyl)-3H-indole derivatives in yields of 48%~64% were synthesized by condensation of 1-formoyl-3-methyl-azulene with 2,3,3-trimethyl-3H-indole derivatives. The structures were characterized by ~1H NMR, IR and elemental analysis.
