A class of noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs) that have received increasing attentions are the long ncRNAs that, like mRNAs, are usually produced by RNA polymerase Ⅱ, but lack significant open reading frames. They appear to exert functional roles directly as ncRNAs and some have been identified to function as genetic regulators or riboregulators. Some researches in recent years suggest that some of them correlate with the tumorigenesis and tumor development.
