The background and features of the chemical engineering and technology major of Wuhan University of Science and Technology were introduced.A series of measures to reform the teaching methods and course system construction for chemical engineering and technology major were elaborated.These measures were based on the conviction that fundamental knowledge should be emphasized and the features be evident.It was pointed out that the key to juggle fundamental knowledge with features was to make a careful study on each course to be opened and to integrate some closely related courses into one.
