The necessity and feasibility of monitoring the switches in the smart substation using IEC61850 standards were stated,the advantages were compared with the IEC61850 standards and SNMP in monitoring switches.The switches modeling principle and data requirements in the smart substation were analyzed from the aspects of basic performances and senior applications,the data which were not suitable for modeling directly were enumerated and the reasons were explained.The modeling process and the modeling method of the switches in smart substation were lay out in detail,the total structure of the model and part of primary logic node structure and its data type were listed,and the transforming ways were given to the data which were not suitable for modeling directly.At last,the typical applying scenes of the model data in smart substation were demonstrated and the significance of modeling was concluded.
