异珊瑚化石始发现于早泥盆世,早石炭世为鼎盛时期,至早二叠世末全部绝灭。本研究将异珊瑚划分为4个化石组合,并对异珊瑚的起源、分布及迁移规律及生态环境等进行了讨论。化石组合由老至新分别为:早泥盆世Tetraphyllia组合;晚泥盆世Oligophylloides-Heterophyllia组合;早石炭世Pentaphyllia-Hexaphyllia-Radiciphyllia组合;早二叠世Dichophyllia-Heterophyllia-Hexaphylloides组合。并指出异珊瑚属于热带—亚热带至暖温带的生物类群,起源中心可能为中国华南板块。

The earliest Heterocorals have been found in Lower Devonian atWenshan district,Yunnan of China.The Heterocorals got their climax of evolution during Early Carboniferous,and extincted after Early Permian.There are 4 fossil assemblages divided.The authors discuss the characteristic of every fossil assemblage,the patterns of distribution and immigration,and the ecologic environments.The fossil assemblage is as follow:Tetraphyllia Assemblage of Early Devonian;Oligophylloides-Heterophyllia Assemblage of Late Devonian;Pentaphyllia-Hexaphyllia-Radiciphyllia Assemblage of Early Carboniferous;Dichophyllia-Heterophyllia-Hexaphylloides Assemblage of Early Permian.The authors point out that the South China Plate may be the deriving center of Heterocorallia and the Heterocoral is one of tropic-subtropic to warm temperate zone biotic community.
