The OPx~（TM） exchanger,Aker Solutions＇ recent technological innovation,and its application in cold exchangers, cold reheat exchangers and SO_3 coolers of sulphuric acid plants are described.Its disengagement chamber equipped with a wire mesh pad will capture the larger particles acid mist entrained in SO_2-rich gas and its counter-and co-current flow design with a slipstream of hot SO_3-rich gas ensures that the minimum tube wall temperature will always be higher than the acid vapour dewpoint.Theses features will improve the reliability of gasgas exchangers by minimizing corrosion from acid mist and acid vapour condensation.
