Based on innovation theories and trade theories, the paper analyzed technology import and in- digenous innovation on the export commodity structure of nine provinces from Pan - Pearl River District in the Mainland using panel data model. The empirical results show that the impact of the current ratio of dependence on foreign trade on the export commodity structure of nine provinces from Pan - Pearl River District in the Mainland is negative, and the ratio of dependence on foreign trade of lag 2 level plays a positive influence. The effect of patents granted on the export commodity structure of nine provinces from Pan - Pearl River District in the Mainland is positive, patents granted of lag 1 level have a negative impact. The cross terms of ratio of dependence on foreign trade and patents granted have a positive impact on the export commodity structure of nine provinces from Pan -Pearl River District in the Mainland. Finally, the paper proposed relevant policy recommendations based on the empirical research.
