毕摩绘画是彝族祭司毕摩用于图解宗教观念、祭祀、占卜、驱魔除患的原始宗教绘画艺术,它折射出了彝族古代社会生活和思想的面貌,蕴涵着大量彝族古代历史和文化的信息.它所隐含的传统哲学和宗教思想,一直以宗教艺术的方式深远地影响着彝族人民的生活.根据其用途毕摩绘画大致可以分为护法防卫类神图、祭祀神座图、驱鬼除患类木板画和占卜绘画四大类.为适应宗教内容的表达,毕摩绘画在造型、构图、线条和色彩运用等形式上形成了一些特点.毕摩绘画具有重要的宗教价值,也有一定的绘画艺术审美价值.

Bimo is the priest of the Yi nationality. Bimo paintings are primitive religious paintings that are used in explaining religious ideas, in sacrificial rites, divination and evil-driving ceremonies. These paintings reveal the life and ideas of the ancient Yis and embody rich historical and cultural implications like the traditional and religious ideas of the Yi people that exert a far-reaching influence on their life. These paintings can be divided into four major groups, the guardians, the sacrificial ritual, the evil-driving and the divination which have their own features in terms of form, structure and color. Such paintings have their important religious value and aesthetic value.
